Let’s get one thing out of the way: this wine’s label is awful. Indeed, it’s one of the worst we’ve ever seen. Fortunately, the content is better than the packaging. According to the winemaker’s website, this is a blend of Grenache, Sangiovese, and “a kiss of Syrah.” It is certified both organic and “no sulfites detected.” We were confounded by the nose, which offered one interesting smell after another. There’s fruit, though it’s difficult to distinguish. Then there’s black pepper, chocolate, and something vegetable. On the tongue, it’s medium-bodied and mostly devoid of tannins.
