Trentatre “33” Rosso

From the Salento region of southern Italy, this is a blend of roughly 33% each of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Montepulciano. The nose offers dried leaves and dirt, with some cherry and Band-Aid (i.e., brettanomyces) thrown in for good measure. On the palate: thin, sour, and somewhat metallic. It is unimproved even after an hour or so of aeration.
